Scripps launches channels and commssions original shows
Scripps’ Food Network UK has ordered another original series, Jonathan Phang’s Caribbean Cookbook (WT). The news comes as Scripps’ Travel Channel orders its first original series in Asia, Destination Wedding, and acquires a raft of new shows.
Jonathan Phang’s Caribbean Cookbook is a 10x30mins series following Phang (Britain’s Next Top Model, Market Kitchen) on a culinary tour of the Caribbean.
The series is the UK channel’s fourth original commission, following Andy Bates Street Feasts, Reza, Spice Prince of India and Jenny Morris Cooks Morocco.
Scripps Networks International’s recently acquired Travel Channel International and has commissioned its first original Asian-originated show. Destination Weddings is a 6x30mins series following couples as they plan their dream weddings in exotic Asian locations. It will premiere worldwide in December.
Separately, Scripps announced several new carriage deals for its channels. Food Network has rolled out on cable service IZZI in Latvia, in Georgia on Super TV, in Romania on Intersat, and in Serbia on Targo Telekom. In Cyprus, it has launched on IPTV service PrimeTel.
Fine Living Network, meanwhile, has launched in Ukraine on Divan.TV, in the Czech Republic with IPTV SELF servis, in Romania on Pan Electro and in Georgia with Super TV.
