The Gurin Company reboots classic gameshows
International formats firm The Gurin Company is bringing back classic gameshows Truth or Consequence and Treasure Hunt and will launch them to the international market at MIPCOM.
The company has also acquired the international distribution rights to new British gameshow Cleverdicks.
Gurin licensed the rights for Truth or Consequence from Ralph Edwards Productions and is hoping to relaunch the gameshow, which ran for 38 years on both CBS and NBC.
It is working with Wink Martindale, Mark Maxwell-Smith and John Ricci Jr. to reboot Treasure Hunt, which aired from the 1950s to 1980s.
Separately, it has struck a deal with Splash Media to rep Cleverdicks, the new gameshow from Weakest Link commissioner Jane Lush.
“These are three amazing game show formats, which we believe are not only timeless but able to easily connect with audiences regardless of their country or culture,” said Gurin. “Truth or Consequences and Treasure Hunt have demonstrated an ability to connect with multiple generations while Cleverdicks is a refreshing new format that brings intelligence and irreverence to the genre. In addition to great brands, each of these shows has truly experienced teams behind them.”
“We love creating original formats, but when we take on other shows it is because we not only want to sell them, we are excited to actually make them,” continued Gurin.
