CBS, TF1 and RTL order ITV format The Audience

US network CBS, France’s TF1 and RTL4 in the Netherlands have ordered local versions of ITV Studios’ new format The Audience.

ITV launched the show, which will air on Channel 4 in the UK, at MIPTV. It follows an individual whose life is at a crossroads. Fifty people then follow the individual for a week in an attempt to help solve that person’s issues.

The fomat was developed by UK indie The Garden, which is making the UK version.

CBS has ordered a pilot from ITV Studios America. TF1 and RTL4 have ordered full series.

“The Garden have devised a fantastic concept with The Audience in which the wisdom of the crowd is used to get to the bottom of one individual’s personal dilemma,” said Paul Buccieri, managing director ITV Studios International and CEO ITV Studios America. “This is an idea which very naturally crosses cultural and geographical borders as well as visually bringing something special to the screen. We are looking forward to working with our broadcast partners to start production on this unique idea around the world.”
