US Cable Upfronts 2012: GSN
Gameshow network GSN is moving into reality programming with its latest programming slate.
The broadcaster, which is owned by DirecTV and Sony Pictures Entertainment, announced the news at its Upfront event in New York, hosted by recently installed EVP programming Amy Introcaso-Davis.
It has ordered RelativityREAL-produced Beat The Chefs and a sixth season of Embassy Row-produced The Newlywed Game and has a number of series in development including RelativityREAL’s The American Bible Challenge, Embassy Row’s $100,000 Pyramid, Krasnow Productions’ Pure Gold, Lionsgate’s The Family Trade, eOne Entertainment’s I Do, Now I Don’t, World of Wonder’s Crowning Glory and Stone & Company’s War of the Rose Sisters.
“Game has always been a key component of the pop culture landscape,” said Introcaso-Davis. “We see an opportunity to expand our brand promise by broadening the definition of television game to include a variety of programming that stays true to our core attributes: the excitement and fun of winning, entertainment for the whole family, and viewer engagement.”
