Paul Abbott to talk Hit and Miss at MIPTV
Paul Abbott is heading to Cannes to talk about his new project Hit and Miss. The Shameless and State of Play creator will speak at a session presented by TBI about the new drama series and his other work alongside Ana Garanito, FremantleMedia Enterprises’ acquisitions & development manager for scripted.
FME will be launching the new drama series internationally at MIPTV. it stars Chloë Sevigny as a pre-op transsexual contract killer with family problems. Produced by Paul Abbott’ indie AbbottVision, the show was the first original series ordered by UK pay TV channel Sky Atlantic and will sit alongside the premium US offerings it has by virtue of an output deal with HBO. DirecTV will transmit the high-concept series on its Audience Network in the US.
FremantleMedia Enterprises has a development deal with AbbotVision and this is the second series to come out of that agreement after psychological thriller Exile.
The show was in development for a few years before finally getting made as a six-episode series, explains Ana Garanito. “It has several unique elements: Paul Abbot is known for making must-see TV in the UK and the US; the basic premise intrigues people; and the casting of the lead actress, which was a unique challenge.”
She adds: “It will work in international territories that know what’s going on with UK drama and that want something very different and unique. It’s not an ordinary thriller or an ordinary family drama – and people want to [acquire] this type of must-see series.”
The Creatives Speaking session takes place on Monday, 2nd April 2012 From 10:45 AM to 11:30 AM in auditorium A.
