The Amazing Race to be remade in Vietnam and the Philippines

Adventure competition series The Amazing Race is to be remade in Vietnam and the Philippines after Disney struck local format deals.

The deals bring the number of international versions of the show to nine after recent deals in Australia and China.

Vietnamese broadcaster BHD and TV5 in the Philippines are reamking the series, which will air later this year, after striking deals with Disney Media Distribution, the Hollywood studio’s international sales arm.

Bertram van Munster, co-creator and exec producer of The Amazing Race, said: “I am particularly delighted that we have announced production of The Amazing Race in Vietnam and the Philippines. It is an honor to see the concept and production of ‘The Amazing Race’ becoming a worldwide phenomenon.”

The show was originally creator by van Munster and Elise Doganieri and has aired on US network CBS since 2001.
