Ice-TV inks deal for Asia’s Next Top Model
Ice-TV has inked a deal for an Asia-wide version of CBS Studio’s format Top Model. The Hong Kong and Singapore-based producer Ice said that production will start on Asia’s Next Top Model in early-2012. The producer and distributor did not reveal any broadcast partners and said it also currently recruiting marketing and branding partners for the show.
The show will pitch want-to-be supermodels from around Asia against one another to find Asia’s next top model. The winner will get a contract with a top model agency.
The show is on The CW network in the US and is currently in its 17th season. There are local versions of the show in countries including Brazil, Mexico, France, Germany, Italy and the UK. In the Asia and Asia Pacific region there have been local versions in Australia and China, but never a pan-regional series.
“Next Top Model is a genuine and proven superbrand amongst the global entertainment formats,” noted David Searl, managing director, Asia, Ice TV.
Meanwhile, Ice-TV is also readying a pan-regional version of The Biggest Gameshow in the World format. Broadcasters including TV5 (Philippines), RCTI (Indonesia), Channel 5 (Thailand) andVTC9 (Vietnam) have already signed up for the show, which is also known as It’s A Knockout and sees different countries competing against each other in various physical challenges.
“The show is produced out of Kuala Lumpur and is a format that we took off the shelf from Mistral in France,” explains Simon Lockyer, Ice-TV managing director, Singapore.
