AMC and Sundance acquire big ticket scripted series
The international AMC and Sundance channels have acquired a raft of big ticket TV series including Hell on Wheels, The Slap and Breaking Bad.
Those series will appear on the Sundance Channel Global in 2012. Endemol USA and Entertainment One’s western Hell on Wheels is in production and The Slap, which is distributed by DCD Media, is about to debut on the BBC in the UK.
Breaking Bad is in its fourth season and AMC/Sundance has picked up Asian pay TV rights to the all of those seasons from Sony Pictures Television.
The channels group has also taken Asian pay TV rights to a new US reality series Shannen Says. The 8×60′ series stars actress Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills 90210).
“These new productions and award-winning series will offer our international audiences access to a wide range of great entertainment from provocative drama to appealing characters and engaging personalities,” said Harold Gronenthal, senior VP & general manager of AMC/Sundance Channel Global.
