Cuppa Coffee launching Dog the Bounty Hunter animated series
Cuppa Coffee is making a Dog the Bounty Hunter animated series. The Canadian animation studio has developed the show with Dog (aka Duane Chapman) and will start shopping it to broadcasters at MIPCOM in October.
Cuppa Coffee, which made Celebrity Deathmatch for MTV, originally made an animated public service announcement featuring Dog in 2007 as part of the ‘Free the Dog’ campaign, following the bounty hunter’s arrest and incarceration in Mexico.
Now it has developed a full-fledged stop-motion animated comedy series with Dog, his wife Beth and their manager Alan Nevins.
“We’ve created something both very funny and action based and we are excited to start approaching broadcasters now with an extraordinary property that lifts off from the A&E brand and goes humorously sideways,” said Cuppa Coffee’s Adam Shaheen. “This is an animated comedy that falls somewhere between The A- Team and Team America!”
The original Dog the Bounty Hunter series, which airs on cable net A&E in the US, has sold well internationally. International broadcasters of the show include Fox8 (Australia), RTL2 (Germany), Prime (New Zealand) and Kanal 5 (Sweden).
