Sony’s AXN to launch eOne’s The Firm globally
Sony Pictures Television is to launch a remake of the John Grisham novel The Firm on its AXN channels internationally after striking a deal with producer Entertainment One (eOne).
The series, which is coproduced between SPT and eOne, will air in more than 125 territories including across Asia, Latin America and Central Europe and in countries including Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Portugal and Spain.
US network NBC is also reportedly in talks to air the 22-episode series, which has also been produced in association with Paramount Pictures, which produced the original Tom Cruise-fronted movie.
The Firm was written by Lukas Reiter, who has written on The Practice and Boston Legal, and will be executive produced by Grisham and eOne’s John Morayniss, Michael Rosenberg and Noreen Halpern. It will go into production in Canada in July.
eOne will distribute the series internationally.
