Viacom shows return to Hulu
Hulu has won back The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report and they will be added to to its online video service after a deal was struck with Viacom.
This comes nearly a year after the two comedy talk shows were taken off the air in a row over programming fees. Viacom had withdrawn the shows, which both air on Comedy Central in the States, in March 2010.
The new deal will also see a raft of MTV, Comedy Central and TV Land series launch on Hulu’s premium subscription service Hulu Plus. Shows including Jersey Shore, Teen Mom 2, Hot in Cleveland, Beavis & Butthead, Reno 911, The Chappelle Show, Real World and Punk’d will launch on Hulu Plus, which costs from US$7.99 per month.
Hulu chief executive Jason Kilar said: “We are thankful that Viacom was DTS [down to snuggle]. Our first order of business in the partnership is GTL [gym, tan and laundry] with Philippe and his team.”
