AXN Beyond acquires GK-TV’s Camelot
Sony’s pan regional Asian network AXN Beyond is ramping up its US acquisitions after striking a deal for Camelot.
This comes after it acquired the US version of supernatural series Being Human.
The broadcaster, which is run by SPE Networks, has struck a deal with Graham King’s US production and distribution company GK-TV, which is run by former Lionsgate exec Craig Cegielski, for Camelot. The 10x1hour series, which is a coproduction between GK-tv, Canada’s Take 5 Productions, Ecosse Films and Ireland’s Octagon, will launch on April 1 and AXN Beyond will air the series in the same week.
Earlier this week, it picked up the US version of sci-fi series Being Human following its launch on US cable network SyFy. The show, which launched on the NBC Universal-owned cable network on January 17, is produced by Canada’s Muse Entertainment and distributed by Zodiak Rights, which also produces and distributes the original British version of the supernatural show.
“The great production values and edginess in these acqusitions will really appeal to our viewers. It is especially exciting that we are able to bring these new American TV series to Asia so shortly after their US debuts,” said Ricky Ow, SVP and general manager, SPE Networks, Asia.
