Disney strikes BT Vision VOD deal
The Walt Disney Company has struck a deal with UK IPTV operator BT Vision to launch an ABC-branded video-on-demand service, the first time it has launched such a service.
The service will see a raft of series produced by Disney’s ABC Studios including Cougar Town, Desperate Housewives, Criminal Minds and Private Practice made available to BT Vision’s 481,000 customers.
Access to the ABC TV On Demand service will cost £6.99 (US$11) per month or individual episodes will be priced at £0.99. Shows will be made available immediately following their linear TV broadcast and will sit alongside older series of classic series including Lost and Ugly Betty.
“The ABC brand stands for innovative, high quality US television production. Leveraging this to launch an ABC TV On Demand branded service is a logical next step in our digital distribution strategy,” said Catherine Powell, senior VP and general manager, media distribution, The Walt Disney Company, EMEA.
