John de Mol’s Talpa teams with Shine Australia
Talpa has inked the latest in a series of international joint ventures, this time teaming with Shine Australia.
The Netherlands-based formats company, owned by John de Mol, has already teamed with Shine France with a view to getting its formats into the country and has also set up JVs with Warner Horizon for the US market and CBV for Portugal.
The 50-50 Australian joint venture will exclusively distribute and produce Talpa formats in the country. It will be run by the Fennessy brothers, who left FremantleMedia Australia last year to set up Shine’s outpost in the country.
John de Mol said: “We are very pleased to team up with Mark and Carl Fennessy as they are by far the best producers in the Australia and New Zealand region.”
At MIPCOM last year Talpa said it would launch in Germany, France, Italy and Spain, the UK and US. The company’s current roster of formats includes The Golden Cage, Dating in the Dark, Viper’s Nest and I Love My Country.
