IAC to fold CollegeHumor into Silverman’s Electus
Barry Diller’s InterActive Corp (IAC) is eyeing plans to fold its online comedy site CollegeHumor and spin off production company Notional into Ben Silverman’s recently launched production company Electus.
The plans, which would bring CollegeHumor parent Connected Ventures into the Diller backed production company, would allow Silverman to develop and sell TV and online brands to broadcasters and web platforms.
Diller announced at IAC’s recent quarterly results that he was planning to increase spending on original programming and is expected to spend invest just under US$200 million over the next few years.
This comes as Silverman’s Electus gathers steam following the appointment of YouTube head of content partnerships Jordan Hoffner.
CollegeHumor, a comedy site that incorporate original web programming and aggregates online videos, recently launched a spin off production company – Notional – to be run by CollegeHumor founder Ricky Van Veen and the company acquired US production company City Lights to boost its library.
