Boomerang buys Welsh indie Indus

UK independent producer Boomerang Plus has acquired Indus Films, the Wales-based indie producer of high-end factual programming.

AIM-listed Boomerang has paid an initial £1.1 million (US$1.8 million) for Indus with an additional payment of up to £1.295 million to follow depending upon Indus’ performance over the next three years. Boomerang registered turnover of £5.32 million for the financial year ended June 2008.

The Welsh company was set up in 2005 by former BBC Wales executives Steve Robinson and Paul Islwyn and TV consultant Emyr Byron Hughes and makes adventure, arts and history programming.

Its biggest success to date has been adventure series Amazon with Bruce Parry for UK broadcaster BBC Two for which it won a BAFTA award. Other shows include Expedition Alaska for Discovery Channel.It is currently making factual series Snowdonia Farm for BBC One.
