TMG making $25.5 million Moby Dick
German producer and distributor Tele München Group (TMG) is making a US$25.5 million version of Herman Melville’s classic whale tale Moby Dick.
Actors William Hurt and Ethan Hawke are on board as Captain Ahab and first officer Starbuck respectively.
RTL, ORF and RHI are also on board the show, which will be the most expensive projects TMG has ever made.
Shooting will start off the east coast of Canada this month before moving on to Malta.
The TV movie will deliver next fall and be produced by Rikolt von Gagern who also made The Sea Wolf for TMG.
TMG boss Herbert Kloiber said the new adaptation of Moby Dick will be a “TV event that will captivate viewers all over the world.”
