ShineReveille acquires Mediaset drama
ShineReveille has inked a deal with Mediaset Distribution, the international sales arm of the Italian broadcaster, to acquire the English-language rights to local scripted legal drama About My Brother.
The producer and distributor, which was founded by Ben Silverman and bought by Lis Murdoch’s Shine Group last year, is set to shop the series to US networks and hopes it will follow in the footsteps of hit international remakes The Office and Ugly Betty.
The 12x50mins series was originally produced by RTI and Grundy Italia for Mediaset and starred Giorgio Pasotti as Stefano Pollini, a New York lawyer who moves back to Italy to look after his brother after the death of their mother. However, he realizes that his brother, who is autistic, has a photographic memory and makes a fantastic addition to Pollini’s law team.
The deal was done in association with international formats company Resonant TV, run by former Telefe exec Gonzalo Cilley, which handles Mediaset’s scripted formats.
