Star India launches Hindi version of Moment of Truth
Indian broadcaster Star is launching Sach Ka Saamna, a Hindi version of the Moment of Truth gameshow. The Shine Reveille-distributed format originated in Columbia and airs on the US Fox network.
The format has contestants strapped to a lie detector and asked increasingly personal questions about their life, in front of a studio audience including family and friends.
The programme is distributed by Shine Reveille and is currently being produced in over 20 countries. The Indian version will be hosted by TV and film star Rajeev Khandelwal and offer a top prize of US$205,000 to contestants able to truthfully answer 20 questions.
The show is being produced by Indian producer Big Synergy. Indian primetime runs from 7pm to 11pm and Moment of Truth will air at 10:30PM. The primetime slot is usually reserved for drama, most recently the hit series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
Keertan Adyanthaya, general manager of News Corp-backed Star Plus said “In this extremely competitive landscape, it’s always been our effort to introduce programming that challenges convention. Sach Ka Saamna is the effort of this continuing journey that will charter a new era of programming.”
