Canada’s Family Channel launches new kids series
Canadian broadcasters Family Channel and Playhouse Disney, which are both operated by Astral Media, have launched a number of new kids series as well as new episodes of returning hits including Connor Undercover and Overruled!
The Family Channel is launching 13x30mins live action series Angel on Campus and 13x30mins comedy Baxter. Angel on Campus, which is produced by Temple Street Productions, is about a prospective angel sent to earth to get his wings, while Baxter, which is produced by Shaftesbury Films follows Degrassi: The Next Generation star Evan Williams as he struggles to make it through high school.
The network has also recommissioned Shaftesbury’s Connor Undercover for a second season and Overruled for a third season.
Meanwhile, Playhouse Disney is to launch two new animated preschool series. Stella and Sam, which is produced by Radical Sheep Productions, is based on Marie-Louise Grey’s book about five year old Sam’s relationship with his big sister. Justin Time, a 13x22mins series produced by Guru Studio, follows the adventures of Justin and his imaginary sidekick Zepi.
The kids channel has also renewed Franny’s Feet and The Secret World of Benjamin Bear.
