Classic Media announces raft of programming deals
Classic Media, the kids producer and distributor that emerged from the collapse of Entertainment Rights, has announced its first programming deals since officially coming into being earlier this week. The kids company has secured sales for three of its key brands, Guess with Jess, Postman Pat and Casper’s Scare School.
Postman Pat spin-off Guess with Jess has been sold to broadcasters including Al Jazeera (Middle East), MBC (Middle East), MNet (South Africa), and RTE (Ireland). The show, a coproduction with Canada’s Nelvana, is currently in production and will debut on UK digital channel CBeebies later this year.
Additional sales have also been recorded for the latest version of Postman Pat, Postman Pat Special Delivery Service. It has been sold to broadcasters including Doordarshan (India), BBC (Poland), NRK (Norway), ORF (Austria), RTE (Ireland), TVNZ (New Zealand), and YLE (Finland).
Meanwhile, Casper’s Scare School, a coproduction with Moonscoop has been sold to ABC (Australia), DR (Denmark), MTV (Finalnd), RTM (Malaysia) and SIC (Portugal). The show will debut on Cartoon Network (Europe) and TF1 (France) later this year.
The Classic Media brand was announced earlier this week. Its launch follows the sale of Entertainment Rights to US private equity-backed rights company Boomerang Media.
