Muprhy in as Sky’s program boss
BSkyB has appointed former BBC3 controller Stuart Murphy as director of programmes for its pay TV channels Sky1, Sky2 and Sky3.
Murphy, who is currently creative director at UK indie TwoFour Broadcast, will be in charge of commissioning and acquiring content for the entertainment nets. He replaces Richard Woolfe, who is moving to become channel controller at terrestrial broadcaster Five.
Murphy beat out a number of candidates for the role including Virgin Media’s Jonathan Webb and MTV’s Heather Jones. He will start in his new role in May and Andrew O’Connell, Sky’s Editor, factual, will serve as acting controller in the interim.
