Katalyst to launch series via Facebook

Ashton Kutcher’s production company Katalyst Films is set to launch an original online video series via popular Facebook application Slide.

This marks the first major online series that will likely bow on Facebook ahead of other platforms including Myspace, MSN and AOL.

The deal will see Katalyst launch a series next year via Slide, which operates a range of sliding photo web widgets, many which are embedded in user’s Facebook profiles.

Katalyst Films, which is run by Kutcher and Jason Goldberg, recently launched Blah Girls, a female skewing South Park-esque teen gossip online series, via Myspace. The company, which also produces Beauty and the Geek and ABC’s forthcoming Tyra Banks fronted reality series True Beauty, has been particularly productive in the web video space.
