Warners about to ink China VOD deal

BesTV, a Chinese IPTV service operated by regional media giant the Shanghai Media Group and China Telecom, is about to announce a video-on-demand deal with Hollywood Studio Warner Bros.

BesTV already has a deal with Sony and is finalising a similar agreement with Warners, Ian Chin, VP of new project development at the IPTV service said. Chin was speaking at the IPTV World Forum Asia, organised by TBIvision publishers Informa Telecoms & Media.

IPTV services are stating to take off in China. Yi Yi Lu, marketing director, at Shanghai Telecom told the IPTV World Forum that it now has 700,000 IPTV subs.
