Japanese animations sales fall
International sales of Japanese animation fell by 6% over the last twelve months, according to figures from the Association of Japanese Animations (AJA).
Sales dropped to Y240trillion (US$2.2b) as a result of a cut in the number of hours available to anime from international broadcasters and cable networks.
Production revenues also fell from US$515m to $441m this year as the number of shows produced also falls.
The Association of Japanese Animations is a trade body that represents a number of animation producers and distributors such as Toei Animation, Studio Ghibli and Nippon Animation.
