News brief: Showtime’s Californication dream over

US cable channel Showtime will end its comic drama Californication after its upcoming seventh season. The show has steadily improved its ratings since launching in 2007 but CBS-owned Showtime has decided to cancel it. Californication follows David Duchovny (The X Files) as a sex-obsessed Hollywood writer. It comes from CBS’s Showtime Networks unit.
