A deal has been in the works for some time, with Canadian courts allowing a deadline for a deal to be extended as terms were worked out.

The Tricon library comprises a total of around 3,000 hours in genres ranging from kids, comedy and drama.

Toronto-based Tricon went into administration towards the end of last year.

Filings from insolvency firm KSV Kofman show 25 companies expressed interest in the available assets, with Sonar Canada, a Sonar subsidiary, eventually winning out.

The deal is contingent on approval by the Ontario Court of Justice.

Tricon has continued with production on Counterfeit Cat and Timber Creek Lodge despite its financial situation.
