Mark Gordon enters UK as Marchand starts prodco
The Mark Gordon Company and parent Entertainment One have inked a multi-year partnership with film producer Xavier Marchand’s newly-established prodco, Moonriver Content.
The move means LA-based Mark Gordon gains a foothold in the European production market, as film- and television-focused Moonriver is based in London.
“We are eager to expand into Europe, and finding strong projects requires deep relationships and experience,” said company founder and CEO Mark Gordon (pictured left). “Xavier brings a robust network to the partnership. On top of that, he’s a creative storyteller who people love to work with. We’re excited for what’s to come.”
Mark Gordon is behind US series such as Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Quantico, Ray Donovan, Designated Survivor and Conviction. eOne acquired 51% the business for US$132.6 million last year.
Since 2012, Marchard (right) has worked with eOne after the Canada-based content giant bought Alliance Films. Last year, also eOne acquired Mark Gordon, which led to the launch of a new independent film and TV studio.
Marchand has now officially exited eOne to launch Moonriver. His first project under the Mark Gordon partnership is Exposure, a feature film about a scientist instrumental in the discovery of DNA.
Marchand is a former Momentum Pictures managing director. He has produced movies such as Suite Française, The Woman in Black: The Angel of Death and Spotlight; was a founder of Haystack Productions; and has held senior roles at Polygram Filmed Entertainment and Warner Bros.
