ITV renews deals for Got Talent, The X Factor

britains_got_talent_173ITV has renewed its deals for talent series The X Factor and Got Talent for another three years, meaning both will run on the commercial net until at least 2019.

The deals are a major boost for FremantleMedia, which distributes the Psyco shows, The future of The X Factor in particular had been questioned in light of ITV poaching The Voice from the BBC, and greenlighting another Tapa format, Dance, Dance, Dance.

The X Factor is currently into its thirteenth season on ITV and is averaging a 42% consolidated viewing. The last season of Britain’s Got Talent also averaged a 42% share and has been the only show on ITV this year to top 12 million viewers at its peak.

The first new episodes of Got Talent under the new deal will start next spring, with The X Factor following in the autumn.

“They are defining shows for us, ones that we are very proud to have as part of our entertainment slate, and they continue year after year, for months at a time, to be amongst the most popular and hugely entertaining formats on television.”
