Exec upped as Lionsgate eyes global SVOD deals
Lionsgate Entertainment has promoted Agapy Kapouranis to the post of executive VP, global SVOD.
Among her key duties will be assessing whether individual programme sales should be made as global SVOD deals – primarily with Netflix – or on a markey-by-market, case-by-case basis.
She will report to Lionsgate executive VP, North American TV and SVOD sales Lawrence Szabo and company president, international television and digital distribution Peter Iacono.
“Agapy is an innovative television and digital distribution executive and a skilled decision-maker with a deep understanding of local international markets and global SVOD deals,” said Jim Packer, Lionsgate’s president, worldwide television and digital distribution.
Kapouranis previously served as senior VP, television and digital distribution, and is credited with identifying windowing opportunities and new business models while also overseeing North American subscription streaming markets.
She joined the studio in 2011 after serving as VP, international on-demand and new media at MGM Studios.
Lionsgate’s assets in the SVOD space include a stake in Comic Con’s OTT offer, and services in China.
Lionsgate purchased a stake in free VOD platform Tubi TV in November, and more recently co-created an on-demand service with comedian Kevin Hart, Laugh Out Loud.
