Thorp exits eOne for Lionsgate post
Charlotte Thorp has left Entertainment One to become senior VP and head of television sales, Europe, for US studio Lionsgate Entertainment.
Thorp will lead European sales for Lionsgate UK, which is the British arm of Hollywood’s Lionsgate. She will be based in London and head up sales of films and TV shows to broadcast, cable and digital platforms in the UK and wider Europe.
This comes after Lionsgate UK CEO Zygi Kamasa’s role was expanded to include the firm’s European business.
At eOne, Thorp was SVP and head of film and TV sales for eOne Film UK and eOne Television International. She has also worked as director of worldwide sales and distribution at HanWay Films, and held senior roles at Viacom International Media Networks and Hit Entertainment.
“Charlotte is a highly accomplished international television sales executive with a keen understanding of where the European television market is headed in a fast-changing environment,” said Kamasa.
“She is ideally qualified to help us diversify our company as we continue to build the Lionsgate television brand in the UK and expand our content pipelines around the world, and she will be an integral part of our increased focus on the exciting opportunities that are emerging throughout the European marketplace.”
Thorp begins her post this week, and is in Cannes at MIPTV with Lionsgate.
The news comes after Lionsgate bought a stake in UK kids TV producer Kindle Entertainment, as TBI first reported last year.
