ITV, Mediaset take Warner’s Little Big Shots
ITV in the UK and Mediaset in Spain have ordered local versions of breakout US variety format Little Big Shots.
The Steve Harvey-fronted original series for NBC in the US is the top-rating new series among total viewers in the 2015-16 season, prompting a wave of interest in the Warner Bros. International Television Production-sold show.
ITV has commissioned WBITVP’s Wall to Wall to produce its version, which is going straight to series. Leanne Klein and Andy Rowe will executive produce.
There will also be a Spanish-language remake on Mediaset, which has ordered WBITVP Spain to produce.
“Little Big Shots gives television schedules a dose of pure celebratory entertainment joy and the confidence that comes from a show of such profound success in the US,” said WBITVP’s senior VP, creative, format development and sales, Andrew Zein.
The variety-comedy format sees presenter Havey showcasing and gently competing with young, gifted children. Ellen DeGeneres, Harvey Jeff Kleeman, Gerald Washington, Robin Ashbrook, Ed Glavin, Mary Connelly and Andy Lassner all executive produce, with Mike Darnell’s Warner Horizon Televisiom, East 112th Street Productions and A Very Good Production coproducing.
The show’s launch in the US delivered the highest-rated alternative series premiere in almost five years, and a second season has been ordered.
