Sony buys into new drama indie
Sony Pictures Television has acquired a minority stake in a new UK-based drama production company.
SPT’s deal hands it distribution rights to high-end drama series hailing from Fable Pictures, which creative director Faye Ward and managing director Eugenio Perez.
Ward was previously at Ruby Film and Television, in which UK broadcaster ITV owns a stake.
SPT president, international production Andrea Wong said Ward was “one of the UK’s most promising and ambitious drama producers”.
“Fable Pictures’ vision is to collaborate with strong writers and directors to tell stories that are ambitious, illuminating and entertaining across film and television,” said Ward.
“This deal will enable us to focus on what we do best, and pour our energy into developing a number of new projects with talent we are incredibly excited about.”
Fable is also working on features films such as the upcoming Stan and Ollie, which screenwriter Jeff Pope wrote, and has credits on movies including Suffragette.
