Rai buys Masha spin-off

Rai has acquired Masha’s Tales, the spin-off from Russian toon Masha and the Bear.

Masha’s Tales will go out on Italian pubcaster Rai’s kids service YoYo.

The 26x6mins series will launch on the channel in the next few weeks and play alongside the original Masha, which, as well as selling around the world, has registered over one billion YouTube hits.

Masha and its spin-off are produced by Russian toon studio Animaccord, and distributed by Ink Global, which struck the Italian deal.

“We’re delighted to be extending our relationship with Rai YoYo so that Italian children will be able to enjoy Masha’s Tales,” said Ink global director Claus Tømming.

“It’s a beautiful show that combines wit, warmth and humour and I’m sure it will be a big hit in Italy.”
