TRX hires Sarah Walker from Sony
Soon-to-launch rights trading platform TRX has hired Sarah Walker as its marketing chief.
Walker joins from Sony Pictures Television, and becomes chief marketing officer at TRX, which will roll out in the next few months and offer content owners a platform to sell their rights digitally.
TRX, which is the brainchild of former RDF and Zodiak bosses David and Matthew Frank, has been staffing up, recently adding business and legal affairs chief Cat Davie, and announcing Pact boss John McVay and distribution veteran Nadine Nohr have joined its board.
Late last year Matt Honeybone joined as CFO and Jennifer Buzzelli was drafted in to lead TRX North America.
Distributors and content owners including Cineflix, Sky Vision, Discovery Networks International and Turner International are among those beta testing the TRX platform, which is expected to launch in the next few months.
Walker, a former editor of TBI, will help oversee the roll out of the TRX brand to buyers and sellers around the world and manage TRX’s presence at MIPTV, MIPCOM and other markets. Prior to SPT she was at Pact, Parthenon Entertainment and Target Entertainment.
She said: “TRX will transform the international distribution business by simplifying the way TV rights are bought and sold and by enhancing the value of catalogues. It’s so exciting to be joining the company just before it starts to roll out to the marketplace.”
TRX CEO Matthew Frank said: “As we head towards the launch of TRX this year Sarah will be a key member of the team with her extensive contacts and marketing experience and we are very much looking forward to having her on board”
Sony is understood to be in the throes of finding a replacement for Walker.
