Disney takes on Netflix with DisneyLife
The Walt Disney Company has launched its new UK streaming service DisneyLife, offering access to the firm’s “biggest collection of entertainment in one place”.
The service costs £9.99 (US$15.11) per month and is available as an app on compatible Android and iOS devices. Users can also stream content to TV via Apple Airplay or Chromecast.
The DisneyLife content offering includes films such as The Lion King; TV series from the channels Disney Junior, Disney Channel and Disney XD; Disney novels and picture books; and music from Disney artists and soundtracks.
“Disney means something different to every parent and child and now with DisneyLife we are handing over the keys to them to explore the ever-expanding digital world of Disney – wherever they are and whenever they want,” said DisneyLife UK general manager Paul Brown.
Users can add up to 10 compatible devices with their subscription and create up to six user profiles. The service also lets subscribers watch movies and TV shows and read books in up to five different languages – English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
Disney is reportedly planning to roll out the service to other markets outside the UK in due course.
