Job losses at Endemol Shine Australia
There has been a round of job losses at Endemol Shine Australia following the combination of the Australian divisions of Endemol and Shine.
Local news site Mumbrella was the first to report the redundancies, suggesting as many as 40 staff have left the business.
The site said Endemol producers including John Edwards, Imogen Banks and Mimi Butler are now part of the merged business, as TBI reported last month.
Endemol Shine Group declined to comment, but TBI has confirmed there has been a round of redundancies at the recently-formed Australian production operation. The actual number of exits is understood to be about 20.
The Australian business is run by Mark and Carl Fennessy, who took the helm after initially saying they planned to leave the company when their contracts expired.
They named their senior team at end-July, with several former Shine execs including Peter Newman and Chris Fry, handed senior roles.
Former Endemol Australia CEO Janeen Faithfull exited in April, a month before it was announced the Fennessys would be running the company.
Announcing their executive team last month, the brothers said: “Such a unique combination of personnel and resources brings together the country’s most talented content creators and executives under one roof. It’s definitely a case of one and one makes three.”
