Turkish DJ format remixed in China
Turkish DJ format The Remix has been picked up for the Chinese market by a local rights and production group.
IPCN, which has brought shows including Got Talent and The Voice into China, has struck an option deal with Remix creator and owner Global Agency to produce a local version.
The Remix is a weekly primetime music series in which DJs pair with vocalists to compete for music contracts and cash prizes. It has already run on VTV3 in Vietnam, where a second season has been ordered.
“Electronic Dance Music [EDM] is experiencing phenomenal growth in many areas of China,” said CEO of IPCN Rebecca Yang. “We think The Remix will cater for that demand.
“We’re confident that our production capabilities coupled with our experience of remaking music talent formats in China will help make this format a success in China.”
IPCN’s Shanghai-based production arm produces Chinese versions of Next Top Model, Supernanny and The Secret Millionaire.
The firm recently said goodbye to co-founder Mick Desmond, who exited after Chinese investment vehicle CMC bought a significant stake.
