Netflix orders trio of kids originals
Netflix has ordered three new animated series for kids: Word Party, Kazoops! and True & Rainbow Kingdom.
Word Party comes from The Jim Henson Company and will debut on Netflix in the US and around the world in 2016. The 26x11mins word-learning digital puppet show is aimed at pre-schoolers.
Kazoops! will roll out in 2016 on the streaming service. It will be produced by Netflix as well as UK and Australian pubcasters the BBC and the ABC. The 13-part preschool claymation series will hit Netflix first, before rolling out in the UK and Australia.
From Canada’s Guru Studio and Home Plate Entertainment, True & the Rainbow Kingdom is a problem-solving series based on art from the Friends With You collective.
The new kids series orders come on the heels on two more recent commissions in the kids space from US-based Netflix. It ordered Cirque du Soleil – Luna Petunia and Puffin Rock earlier this month.
