Global simulcast for Fear the Walking Dead
The Walking Dead spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead will go out on the international AMC channels simultaneously, and at the same time around the world as on AMC in the US on August 23.
The global simulcast will see the show screened around the world on AMC Global at 9pm eastern time, ahead of repeat showings within local primetimes.
The simulcast will not take place in the UK where the AMC channel is rolling out exclusively on the BT platform, but not until September, after the series’ US launch and simulcast. There is no official UK launch date.
AMC announced the simulcast news at Comic-Con International.
“Anticipation around the world for Fear the Walking Dead is reaching a crescendo and we are ecstatic about delivering the series to worldwide fans at the exact same time as the US,” said Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC and Sundance Channel Global.
He added: “Whether you’re in Hong Kong, Madrid or São Paulo, AMC viewers will be able to join the journey and experience the start of the zombie apocalypse together.”
Fear the Walking Dead is set at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, before anyone understood exactly what was happening. Progenitor The Walking Dead is set in the months and years that follow the outbreak.
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is behind the spin-off, with David Erickson on board as showrunner. Kirkman exec produces alongside, among others, Gale Ann Hurd. AMC Studios produces the show.
The AMC Global channel started rolling out last year and is now available in over 125 countries throughout Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
