Beta’s Welbers to join German indie
Eric Welbers’s next post will be at German independent film and TV producer Neue deutsche Filmgesellschaft.
He joins the firm as managing director, international productions and new business development after it emerged he was leaving his MD position at Jan Mojto’s production group Beta Film.
ndF is oneof Germany’s oldest independent production companies, having launched in 1947. It produces TV dramas, event coproductons, cartoons, comedies, health programming and feature films.
“He’s a real stroke of luck for us – professionally and personally,” said ndF’s managing partner, Claudia Sihler-Rosei of his hire.
Welbers had spent more than 20 years at Beta, working on high-profile European drama series including Generation War, Italian mafia drama Gomorrah and Spanish scripted offerings including Grand Hotel and Velvet, which Beta distributes.
Munich-based Beta is yet to confirm if a direct replacement will be sourced.
