Clarkson ‘planning car show comeback’
Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson (above middle) is plotting a replacement petrolhead series after being axed from the BBC show for hitting a producer.
Writing in his Sunday Times column, Clarkson said: “I have lost my baby but I shall create another. I don’t know who the other parent will be or what the baby will look like, but I cannot sit around any more organising my photograph album.”
UK pubcaster the BBC ended its long but fractured relationship with Clarkson after an investigation found he had verbally abused and punched Top Gear editor Oisin Tymon over a row about food provision following filming.
The likes of ITV and Netflix have been linked with signing him with a view to launch a Top Gear replacement. However, various broadcasters have ruled out working with the star.
Clarkson was a huge draw for the BBC with male audiences – to the point where commercial BBC Worldwide executives were internally calling new channel BBC Brit ‘the Top Gear network’.
