Amazon cop drama lands in Australia
Amazon Original drama series Bosch has been sold to SBS.
The Australian pubcaster will air the cop drama, starting this July, on its flagship SBS One channel.
The series is produced and distributed by Red Arrow prodco Fabrik and distributed by Red Arrow International, which struck the Australian deal.
The 10x60mins series debuted on Amazon Prime Instant Video in the US, UK and Germany, and the streaming service claimed it delivered it the biggest debut weekend yet for one of its originals (but did not break out any supporting viewing data).
Amazon has since ordered a second season of Bosch, which is based on the successful Michael Connelly book series about an LA murder cop.
Speaking about the Australian deal, Marshall Heald, director of television and online content for SBS, said: “The story of LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch has captivated millions of readers for years and Bosch the series brings the same grit and intrigue fans of author Michael Connelly’s best-selling franchise expect and new audiences will be gripped by.
“Bosch is the perfect addition to SBS’s slate of premium drama and enhances our commitment to delivering the world’s best drama to Australian audiences.”
