Senior Nick execs axed in restructure
Senior Nickelodeon executives Teri Weiss and Rick Magallanes are among those axed in another round of Viacom lay-offs, US trades reported this week.
Weiss, Nick’s executive VP of preschool programming is leaving along with Magallanes, who is Nickelodeon Animation Studios’ senior VP; Jenna Boyd, who had the same role; SVP of production and development at Nickelodeon Preschool, Nick Jr. and NickMom Kay Wilson Stallings; and VP of animation development Jill Sandford.
Deadline had last week broken the news that between some Nick execs would be made redundant as part of parent Viacom’s company slim-lining process that aims to save US$250 million.
Last month, Cyma Zarghami was placed in charge of a new Viacom Kids and Family Group, which now houses Nick.
There have already been lay-offs at MTV, which is losing around 12% of staff, VH1 and TV Land plus film studio Paramount Pictures.
Nick’s US office couldn’t be reached for comment.
