Warner’s Asanger joins Sony
Warner Bros International Television Production executive Christian Asanger is joining Sony Pictures Television Germany in the new year.
Asanger is exiting the international Warner Bros. business, where he was director of local productions, based in Germany. He also acted as a worldwide consultant for Warner’s dating format The Bachelor.
At SPT Germany, he will be creative director and report to managing director Astrid Quentell.
He joined Warner Bros. in 2009 from ProSiebenSat.1, where he was head of entertainment series production, to head up a then-new production division.
This year, the unit sold Eyeworks format Adam Looking for Eve to RTL – a move that represented the first Warner-brokered format deal resulting from the buy-out of the Eyeworks business.
SPT Germany launched in 1995, and has produced shows such as ZDF crime series Heldt and the German adaptations of Dragon’s Den (known locally as Die Höhle der Löwen) for Vox and Release The Hounds (Scream if You Can) for ProSieben.
Local German trade title dwdl.de first reported the news, which an SPT spokeswoman confirmed this morning.
