Nets accept Sony’s Marry Me proposals

Broadcasters such as MTG, RTE and OSN have bought American romantic comedy series Marry Me from Sony Pictures Television.

MTG has taken rights for its free TV channels and SVOD service, Viaplay, in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, while Ireland’s RTE has picked up the NBC show for RTE2.

Middle Eastern pay TV provider OSN has acquired rights across the Middle East and North Africa for its OSN First Comedy HD network, with a premiere across 20 territories coming early next year.

In Turkey and Turkish-speaking Cyprus, D-Smart has taken rights, while Icelandic broadcaster 365 Media has also picked it up. Across 23 territories in Latin America, Canal Sony has bought rights.

Finally, in Asia, RTL CBS Entertainment has taken the show for 15 territories, and Chinese on-demand playform iQiyi has taken streaming rights.

Deals with Channel 4 in the UK, Seven Network in Australia and TVNZ in New Zealand have already been secured. It already runs on Global in Canada, and has rated solidly for NBC in the US.

Marry Me follows a couple that decide to finally marry after six years of dating but find the path to the aisle more treacherous that first expected. Shark Vs. Bear, FanFare Productions and Sethsquatch Inc. produce in association with SPT.
