Boomerang buys Inspector Gadget reboot
Several international channels including Boomerang have acquired the new version of classic animated series Inspector Gadget.
Turner Broadcasting’s Boomerang, which has recently had a brand refresh and been repositioned, has picked up the show for the EMEA, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
The 26x22mins CGI series is produced and distributed by Canada-listed DHX Media, which has struck the deals. It was commissioned by Teletoon in Canada, which will launch it next year.
In the series, Gadget’s arch-enemy Dr. Claw has restarted his MAD crime syndicate and the titular gadget-using detective comes out of retirement to save the world.
His niece Penny is an agent in training, while Dr. Claw has a new partner in crime, his nephew Talon.
Josh Scherba, senior VP, distribution, DHX Media said: “This series has been updated for the next generation of gadget-savvy kids and our deals with these new broadcast partners will ensure Inspector Gadget will ‘go-go’ to new fans.”
