Canada’s latest OTT service bags Python

Monty_PythonUpcoming OTT service Latte has acquired a raft of Monty Python content including the film about the comedy troupe’s recent reunion gig in London.

The internet service from telco and broadcaster Bell, which has yet to be given a commercial name and is known simply as ‘Project Latte’, has acquired the content from UK distributor Eagle Rock.

The package, or ‘curated collection’, of Python fare includes all episodes of Monty Python’s Flying Circus as well as several associated docs and specials. It also includes Monty Python Live (mostly) – One Down Five to Go, which follows the comics as they reunite on stage for a much-hyped London performance.

Other titles covered by the deal include German special Monty Python’s Fliegender Zirkus, 1982 gig Monty Python: Live at the Hollywood Bowl and Parrot Sketch Not Included: 20 Years of Monty Python, a special hosted by Steve Martin.

The content will sit alongside the HBO fare already confirmed for Latte. Bell said there will be 10,000 hours of content in all on the new service. It does not yet have a launch date.
