Sky takes UK rights to CBS series Madam Secretary
UK pay TV platform BSkyB has picked up new US drama Madam Secretary.
The series will go out on Sky’s female-skewed Sky Living channel in the UK.
In the US it is one of the new season shows on broadcast network CBS, debuting to strong ratings, debuting to over 17 million viewers.
CBS Studios International distributes the series and struck the deal with Sky.
The show stars Tèa Leoni (Deep Impact) as a former CIA analyst who is appointed US Secretary of State.
It is produced by CBS TV Studios and Morgan Freeman’s prodco, Revelations Entertainment. The Hollywood star is among Madam Secretary’s exec producers.
“I knew as soon as I saw Madam Secretary at this year’s LA screenings it was perfect for Sky Living,” said Antonia Hurford-Jones, Sky Living channel director. “It’s a smart, pacy quality drama which has you hooked from the start.”
CBSSI has already shopped the series to broadcasters including Norway’s TV2 and ProSiebenSat1 in Germany.
