S4C launches on TVPlayer streaming service
Welsh public broadcaster S4C has launched on streaming service TVPlayer, making its programming available on-demand to viewers in Wales and the wider United Kingdom.
TVPlayer is a free app developed by tech company Simplestream that fully launched earlier this year.
It allows consumers in the UK to watch UK channels on connected devices and claims to have a million users and with the addition of S4C it carries 35 channels including those from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
S4C will be carried in TVPlayer’s ‘Entertainment Pack’ from today. The channel carries entertainment, current affairs and factual programming in Welsh.
Elin Morris, S4C director of corporate and commercial policy, said: “TVPlayer offers a new way of accessing the Channel and the app gives people the freedom to watch on a wide variety of mobile devices. This provides an additional way for audiences to find and enjoy S4C’s content.”
The TVPlayer app can be downloaded from the Apple App store, for Android devices via the Google Play store and for Amazon’s connected devices via the Amazon Appstore.
